Attention Parents! Does your child enjoy photography? Does your child enjoy nature? Is your child eager to exercise their skills while learning in a fun and positive environment? We have the perfect opportunity for you!
The Riverview Park and Zoo (RPZ) and Otonabee Conservation are thrilled to announce that we have teamed up to bring you The Bondar Challenge this summer.
The Bondar Challenge is a two-day program developed by The Roberta Bondar Foundation that teaches youth about their natural environment through the art of photography. Over the course of two days, participants will earn their way around a digital camera and will acquire a variety of photography techniques, ranging from basic and advanced. Cameras will be provided and no previous experience is necessary. Participants will then have the opportunity to apply these skills as they explore the scenic environment of the RPZ and the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area.
At the end of the program, participants will choose their best photograph and submit it to The Robert Bondar Foundation. A panel of judges will evaluate entries from youth across Canada and will select winning photographs for the summer of 2017. Winners will have their photograph featured on The Roberta Bondar Foundation’s website and will be awarded a variety of prizes.
Registration for The Bondar Challenge is now open for youth ages 9 to 13; registration can be done in person at the RPZ Guest Services desk which is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You may contact the RPZ at 705-748-9301, ext. 2372 for more details.
