Watershed Planning and Regulations

Otonabee Conservation (ORCA) works collaboratively with our partners and clients. Current policies provide a vital foundation for protecting our watershed, guiding sound development, and promoting sustainable communities.

ORCA's “Watershed Planning and Regulation Policy Manual” describes our role and regulatory responsibilities. It explains our mandate under both the Conservation Authorities Act and under the Planning Act. The manual outlines requirements for applications submitted to the Authority for approval by our municipalities, landowners, applicants, and their agents.

The Watershed Planning and Regulations Policy Manual was updated in 2015 to reflect changes in legislation, provincial policy, and best practices. The updates were approved by the Board of Directors on December 4, 2015. A digital copy of the Policy Manual can be requested by using our Inquiry Form.
