FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FLOOD WATCH for the Trent Severn-Waterway
WATERSHED CONDITION STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY for local watercourses
The current FLOOD WATCH or the Trent Severn-Waterway will remain in effect as the Kawartha Lakes and Otonabee River continue to face an elevated flood risk due to high and fluctuating water levels and flows. The WATERSHED CONDITION STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY for local watercourses will also remain in place.
Over the next week, the Trent Severn-Waterway water management team will be moving excess water from the system. As a result, a high volume of water will be moving through the Kawartha Lakes and the Otonabee River.
Residents are reminded to stay away from dams, culverts and shorelines as unsafe conditions will persist on and around all area watercourses, including slippery and unstable banks, extremely cold water and fast and turbulent flows.

Water levels can be monitored on-line at:
1) Trent-Severn Waterway’s Water Management InfoNet
2) Water Survey of Canada Real-Time Hydrometric Data
3) Otonabee Conservation website
This FLOOD WATCH and WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY message will expire Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 3 p.m., unless up-dated earlier.
