FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Flood Watch for local watercourses
Watershed Condition Statement – Water Safety for the Trent
                                                  Severn-Waterway

A FLOOD WATCH is in effect for local watercourses within the Otonabee Watershed due to significant rainfall received this week, with additional precipitation in the forecast.
There is potential for nuisance to minor flooding in low-lying, flood-prone areas along local watercourses. Ponding and pooling of water is also expected in areas with poor drainage.

A WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY remains in effect for the Trent-Severn Waterway as water levels and flows continue to increase. Slippery, unstable streambanks are creating a high safety risk. Flooding is not expected.

Residents are reminded to stay away from shorelines, to stay informed by monitoring weather updates and water levels, and to be prepared for possible flooding. Subscribe on our website to receive flood messages directly.

Water levels can be monitored on-line at:
1)    Trent-Severn Waterway’s Water Management InfoNet
2)    Water Survey of Canada Real-Time Hydrometric Data
3)    Otonabee Conservation website

This FLOOD WATCH and WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY message will expire Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 3 p.m., unless up-dated earlier.
