Due to the potential for heavy rainfall, all watercourses within Otonabee Conservation jurisdiction may experience higher than normal water levels and flows.

Residents of flood prone areas and shorelines are advised to stay be prepared for potential flooding and stay aware of local weather conditions and alerts over the next 48 hours.  Recreational water users are urged to remain cautious because high water levels and flows will continue through the weekend.

ISSUED TO: Municipalities of Selwyn, Douro-Dummer, Asphodel-Norwood, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Cavan Monaghan, Trent Hills, City of Peterborough, and City of Kawartha Lakes, as well as Otonabee Conservation’s other partners in flood emergency management.

Otonabee Conservation has partnered with several local schools and service groups to plant a variety of trees and shrubs around the Cedargrove Park stormwater management pond

Employees from Siemens Canada in Peterborough planted 100 native trees and shrubs at the Riverview Park & Zoo on May 22nd in partnership with Tree Canada and Otonabee Conservation. 

On May 16, at the annual Peterborough County Community Recognition Awards, Otonabee Conservation was awarded the Accessibility Recognition Award.

A Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety message has been issued for the Trent Severn Waterway due to recent widespread rainfall events causing higher-than-normal water flows and levels that may be dangerous, but flooding is not expected.

WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY issued for all area waterbodies and watercourses, including local rivers, streams, and creeks and the Trent-Severn Waterway.

Otonabee Conservation released their 2023 Annual Report to the Watershed Community, at their board meeting on April 18^th. The report highlights last year’s accomplishments, thanks donors for their contributions, and gives supporters a better understanding of the Conservation Authority’s impact.

Otonabee Conservation staff are conducting spring dam operations including placing stop-logs into dams and installing warning buoys and buoy-lines upstream of Authority-owned dams.
