A FLOOD WATCH is being issued for local watercourses within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation, excluding the Trent-Severn Waterway.
The Flood Watch is being extended, as extreme cold temperatures are expected to continue for another week within our region. The cold air, combined with a lack of ice cover and turbulent flows on the Otonabee River and upper Trent River (to Hastings) may result in the generation of frazil ice, which can increase the risk of localized flooding.
A FLOOD WATCH is being issued for watercourses within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation including Otonabee River, upper Trent River to Hastings and local watercourses.
Recent and above-normal air temperatures and rain may weaken ice cover in areas previously deemed safe for on-ice recreational activities. These weather conditions can cause slippery and unstable shorelines conditions. People should expect higher than normal water levels and flows in area watercourses as a result of increased run-off from rain and snowmelt.
This Watershed Conditions Statement is being issued due to the increased temperatures and the 10 to 20 mm of rain forecasted to begin overnight on Thursday.
A WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY has been issued for Trent-Severn Waterway (TSW).
Due to the unusually high-water levels and flows, Trent-Severn Waterway has announced a partial closure within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation to ensure public safety. There are no current flooding concerns.
WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY has been issued for Trent-Severn Waterway (TSW) and all local watercourses. Currently there are no flooding concerns, however conditions remain dangerous on and around all watercourses within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation.
The Flood Warning that has been in effect for the Trent-Severn Waterway has been downgraded to a Flood Watch.
Flooding of low-lying, flood-prone areas along the Trent-Severn Waterway is expected to worsen over the next 48 hours as water level and flows continue to rise.
Flooding in low lying, flood-prone areas will worsen over the coming days along the Trent-Severn Waterway (Kawartha Lakes, Otonabee River and Rice Lake) and local watercourses, including the Ouse River, Indian River and tributaries to the Otonabee River. These areas are experiencing extremely hazardous water levels and flows.
