Otonabee Conservation has extended the Water Safety Statement, previously issued on March 13th, until March 27th, 2025.
Otonabee Conservation has issued a Water Safety Statement in anticipation of the upcoming warm temperatures and expected rainfall this weekend. Residents should maintain safety precautions around all watercourses. However, flooding is not expected.
This Watershed Conditions Statement is being issued by Otonabee Conservation to remind residents and visitors of the potential dangers that exist around bodies of water. Slippery, unstable streambanks and fast flowing, cold water temperatures create extremely hazardous conditions close to waterbodies and watercourses. As well, all ice cover should be considered weak and extremely dangerous.
Currently there are currently no flooding concerns.
Otonabee Conservation’s Annual General (AGM) meeting showcased water related programs and services, voted in the 2025 Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, and celebrated this year’s recipients of the Environmental Excellence Awards.
The Flood Warning issued for the Otonabee River on Thursday January 9th, 2025, has been downgraded to a FLOOD WATCH.
Otonabee Conservation is inviting the public to review and provide feedback on the draft of its Floodplain Mapping study for the Byersville Creek area.
The Flood Watch issued for the Otonabee River on Monday January 6th, 2025, is upgraded to a FLOOD WARNING.
A Flood Watch has been issued for municipalities along the Trent-Severn Waterway within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation and, due to the potential for flooding because of frazil ice.
This FLOOD WATCH is issued for all watercourses within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Region Conservation Authority, except the Trent-Severn Waterway. An approaching Texas Low will bring warm air temperatures and 25-40 millimeters of rain beginning December28, followed by another low-pressure system on December 31 bringing additional rain.
The former gravel pit within Otonabee-South Monaghan Township now has a new name, The Mikinaak Conservation Area.
