Source water is the water from lakes, rivers (surface water), and underground aquifers (groundwater) that all Ontarians rely on for their drinking water. Under the Clean Water Act, policies manage land-based activities that are a threat to municipal water sources.

Floods are the most common and costly type of natural disaster. Otonabee Conservation reduces the potential for damage and loss from flooding by regulating development, protecting developed areas, and providing information to residents.

The Otonabee Region Watershed covers an area of almost 2000 km2. It encompasses the watersheds of the Otonabee, Indian and Ouse Rivers. Our watershed is home to more than 100,000 people in rural and urban areas. A healthy watershed is important for our environment, community, and economy.
