Otonabee Conservation and City of Peterborough reach agreement for Management of the Peterborough Marina

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Otonabee Conservation and City of Peterborough reach agreement for Management of the Peterborough Marina.

Peterborough, Ontario (April 27, 2026) — Otonabee Conservation is pleased to announce that it will be taking over the management and operations of the Peterborough Marina from the City of Peterborough, marking a new chapter in a longstanding and collaborative relationship.

This transition reflects a shared commitment to enhancing waterfront experiences while ensuring sustainable, community-focused management of local natural assets. The arrangement builds on the successful partnership between the two organizations, including Otonabee Conservation’s management of Beavermead Campground.

Otonabee Conservation will work to maintain and enhance marina services for residents and visitors alike, while supporting the long-term health of the surrounding watershed. This transition also presents new opportunities to support and grow tourism in the region by strengthening Peterborough’s waterfront as a destination for boating and outdoor recreation.

Conservation Authorities play a vital role in Ontario communities, balancing environmental protection with recreational opportunities. This new responsibility further strengthens Otonabee Conservation’s role in delivering programs and services that connect people to the natural environment.

“This is a natural evolution of the strong partnership between the City of Peterborough and Otonabee Conservation,” said Kevin Duguay, Vice Chair of the Otonabee Conservation Board of Directors and City Councillor for the City of Peterborough. “Building on the success we’ve seen with Beavermead Campground, this collaboration ensures the marina will continue to be well-managed, accessible, and an important part of our community’s waterfront for years to come.”

Otonabee Conservation will share additional details about marina operations and the upcoming boating season in the coming weeks.
