Otonabee Conservation releases the 2025 Annual Report

Peterborough, Ontario (Thursday, April 25, 2026) Otonabee Conservation has released their 2025 Annual Report to the Watershed Community at their board meeting on April 16th. 

As a new way to connect with the community, Otonabee Conservation has taken a fresh approach to it’s Annual Report by creating a video experience that illustrates the work and impact the organization accomplished over the past year.

“Our 2025 accomplishments demonstrate the strength of our programs and partnerships across the watershed,” said Michael Metcalf, Chair of the Otonabee Conservation Board of Directors. “These achievements reflect our commitment to protecting the watershed while connecting people to the natural environment.”

• 660 trees and shrubs by 96 volunteers at 2 locations in the watershed

• 1,500 students from 14 schools participated in our education programs

• 228 permits were issued under the Conservation Authorities Act in 2025

• 31,789 campers were hosted in our three campgrounds in 2025 

• 15,980 day-use visitors were hosted at Warsaw Caves Conservation Area

• 14 Flood Forecasting and Warning watershed safety messages were issued and issued four low water messages

At the meeting, members of the Board of Directors were also recognized with awards honouring their years of dedicated service. 

“As we enter a new chapter for Otonabee Conservation, we are embracing change with a strong sense of optimism,” said Janette Loveys Smith, CAO of Otonabee Conservation. “These transitions create new opportunities to strengthen our programs, enhance community connections, and continue delivering meaningful environmental stewardship across the watershed.”
